William Gregory Gamache, 93, passed away April 15, in Allen, Texas. He was born on October 2, 1932, in St. Louis, Missouri, to his loving parents Ameda Gamache and Lillian Eleanor (Gau) Gamache.
William was raised in St. Louis, where he attended school and graduated from Wellston High School. He proudly served his country in the United States Army during the Korean Conflict before continuing his education at Washington University in St. Louis, where he earned a bachelor's degree in Business Administration.
Following his graduation, William began his career working as an accountant right out of college. Over the years, he was employed by several companies before ultimately retiring from AT&T after many years of dedicated service. He was known for his strong work ethic, reliability, and quiet dedication to providing for his family.
Outside of his career, William found great joy in life's simple pleasures. He was an avid bowler who enjoyed both the competition and the camaraderie of the lanes. His faith was a guiding force throughout his life, and he remained deeply involved in his Lutheran church community, where he formed meaningful friendships and lived out his values through kindness and service.
William met the love of his life, Barbara Ann Ditch, and on January 12, 1962, they were united in marriage in St. Louis, Missouri. Together, they built a life rooted in love, faith, and devotion. He took great pride in his family, and raising them brought him immeasurable joy and countless cherished memories.
William will be remembered as a devoted husband, a loving father, and a steady, caring presence in the lives of those who knew him. His legacy of faith, dedication, and quiet strength will live on in the hearts of his family and friends.
William is survived by his children: daughter, Renee Gamache of Hot Springs, Arkansas; daughter, Sharon Porter and husband, Dirk of Plano, Texas; and son, Jeffrey Gamache and wife, Mary of Plano, Texas; grandchildren, Jeffrey Harris, Jessica Harris and husband, Anthony Stauch; Chase Porter; Markie Porter; Katherine Merrifield and husband, Andre; Kristina Gamache; Kyle Gamache; ShiAnn Koberger; Dakota Koberger; Gregory Koberger; Kayla Savio and fiancé, Daniel Vines; and Katelyn Savio and fiancé, John Johnson; great-grandchildren, Julie Harris, Liberty Harris, Penelope Stauch, Delyla Stauch, Easton Merrifield, Hadley Merrifield, Aidan Vines, Juliet Johnson, and Warner Elliott Merrifield; and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and extended family members and friends, who will miss him dearly and forever cherish his memory.
William was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Barbara Gamache, parents, Ameda and Lillian Gamache, son, Richard Savio, daughter, Julie Koberger, brother, Emmett Gamache, and sisters, June Russel, Jeanette Moersch, and Ida Gamache.
A graveside service with Military Honors will be held at 11:00 a.m., Tuesday, May 5, 2026, at Dallas-Fort Worth National Cemetery, 2000 Mountain Creek Pkwy, Dallas, Texas 75211.
