- [S5] Obituary.
Leo Skaine 1944-2021 Leo Skaine - age 76, of Grandview Manor, Berwick, formerly of Huntington Pt., passed away on Saturday, February 6, 2021. Born in Portage, Cape Breton, he was the son of Leo and Peggy Skaine. He never forgot his Cape Breton roots and enjoyed his trips home to visit family and friends. After serving 32 years in the Royal Canadian Air Force, he settled with his family in the Annapolis Valley and continued to participate in community affairs, which he enjoyed. Unfortunately, his humorous personality and helpful nature was replaced by the effects of early onset dementia. He fought a long battle, trying to hang on to his dignity. Leo left this world as we know it, Saturday afternoon comforted by his family. He is survived by his wife, Frances (Boylan) and his three daughters, Tuesday (Tony) Zakharia, Anne (Paul) Gamache, and Lori Skaine. He left behind six grandchildren who were all very special to him, including Joel, Chelsea, Michael, Demitri, Zedeno, and Shylah. Leo is also survived by his five sisters, Gladys (Pete) Pineau, Margret (Jack) McKinnon, Mary (John) MacIsacc, and Irene Skaine. The family wishes to thank the staff of Winslow and Franey units at Grandview Manor in Berwick, NS for their care of Leo. There will be no service, by request and donations in memory can be made to the Alzheimer Society. Arrangements have been entrusted to the White Family Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Kentville.
