He grew up in Yakima, Washington, graduating from Yakima High School in 1950. He met the love of his life, Mary Sauer, on a blind date in 1949. They were wed at St. Paul?s Cathedral in 1951. Together they raised five children. He began his career at Brimmer Tire Service where he worked for several years before joining the Yakima Police Department. He retired from the Yakima City Police Department, then went on to truck driving, head of security for Ace Distribution Center, Bailiff for Yakima County Superior Court, U.S. Marshall for Federal Court, ending his working career as a pilot car driver for Valley Quality Homes.
Bob was an avid outdoorsman who especially loved fishing, hunting, and family camping trips. He and Mary enjoyed many years traveling in their motor home, including several trips across the U.S. and Alaska. Their favorite places were the Oregon Coast, Branson, and our National Parks.
