Roy H. Kristoffersen, 55, of 46 Cedar St., Saranac Lake died Friday, July 27, 2007 at Adirondack Medical Center in Saranac Lake. Born Nov. 12, 1951 in Brooklyn, he was the son of Tollef and Louise (Jacobson) Kristoffersen. He married Barbara Dupree on June 18, 1982 in Saranac Lake. Roy had been a resident of Saranac Lake since he moved from Long Island in 1968. He was employed at WNBZ Radio Station in Saranac Lake for 25 years as the news and music director. He later worked at the American Management Association for 18 years as a supervisor for the telemarketing department. Roy served as village justice for Saranac Lake for 18 years and most recently was a sales representative for Met Life. Roy was a member of the Sons of the American Legion in Saranac Lake and a member of the Saranac Lake Moose Club. He was the recipient of the Citizen of the Year award in 1985. Roy also worked for the ALPO sled dog races as a stringer for Voice of America, was a past board member of the Saranac Lake Golf Club, past president of the Saranac Lake Chamber of Commerce in 1983, and also did hear-a-thons for the American Heart Association. He was an avid golfer and sports fan who loved his New York teams. He is survived by his wife Barbara of Potsdam; one daughter Mandy Kristoffersen of Ogdensburg; one son Robert Kristoffersen of Saranac Lake; two grandchildren: Madelyn and Connor Dickinson, both of Ogdensburg; many nieces, nephews; and close friend, Barbara Dukett of Saranac Inn. He was predeceased by his parents and one brother Arnold Madsen. Calling hours will take place from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday, July 31 at the Fortune-Keough Funeral Home in Saranac Lake. A Sons of the American Legion service will take place at 8 p.m. Tuesday at the legion hall. A Mass of Christian burial will take place at 11:15 a.m. Wednesday, Aug. 1 at St. Bernard?s Church in Saranac Lake, with the Rev. Thomas Kornmeyer officiating. Burial will follow in St. Bernard Cemetery in Saranac Lake. Friends wishing to remember Roy may make memorial contributions to American Heart Association in care of the funeral home.
