ROBERT W. GAMACHE died on October 3, 2002 after a battle with cancer. Bob was born on October 16, 1920 in Fairfield, CT. He was a 1943 graduate of the Rice Institute. Bob proudly served in the US Navy during World War II, as a Lieutenant (JG). He was a long time member of the Houston construction industry and was Vice President of the Gene Murphree Corporation. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and astronomy. For the past ten years, Bob was a volunteer with the Methodist Hospital Pastoral Services and the Houston Arboretum Amigos. Bob was preceded in death by his parents, Louis and Bess Gamache, and his first wife, Irma de la Riviere Gamache. He is survived by his wife Patricia Gamache; his son, Robert Gamache, and wife, Jan; daughter-in-law, Dianne Truitt and husband, Allen; grandchildren, Laura Simpson and husband, Keith, Pam Viccinelli and husband, Phillip, Paul Gamache, Jacqueline Gamache; sister, Jean Garrison; brother, Bill Gamache and wife, Linda; step-sons, Peter, Michael, Craig, and Jim Dawson, and their families; and numerous great-grandchildren, step-grandchildren, nieces and nephews. Friends are invited to visitation with the family Sunday, October 6, 2002 from 4:00 to 6:00 PM in the Chapel of Memorial Oaks Funeral Home, where a Vigil Service will be held at 6:00 PM the same evening. A Funeral Mass will be conducted at 10:00 AM on Monday, October 7, 2002 at St. Cecilia Catholic Church, 11720 Joan of Arc Dr., Houston, Texas 77024, with Father Bruce Noble, Celebrant. Rite of Committal will follow in Memorial Oaks Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Catholic Chaplain Core (713-526-6438), the Houston Arboretum and Nature Center (4501 Woodway, Houston, TX 77024), or the charity of your choice.
