Robert E. Gamache Sr.
Robert E. Gamache, Sr., 83, of Palmer St., Fall River, died Monday at Saint Anne's Hospital.
A lifelong resident of Fall River, he was the son of the late Henri and Olivine (Levasseur) Gamache.
He served in the U.S. Army during WW II as a section leader in the capacity of Corporal and Sergeant, seeing action throughout Europe and England. He was employed by Anderson Little, Ray's Upholstery and Sunrise Fruit Store, then was a U.S. Postal Service clerk for 25 years, retiring in 1983 and was then employed by Auclair Funeral Home.
A lifelong member of St. Anne Parish, he was a Holy Name Society member and French mass collector for many years and was a member of American Postal Workers Union, Royal Travelers and St. Anne Fraternity.
He was the husband of Lorraine F. (Thiboutot) Gamache; the son of the late Henri and Olivine (Levasseur) Gamache; the father of Diane L. Medeiros (husband Edward), Robert E. Gamache, Jr. (wife Juanita), Roger P. Gamache, Jeanne M. Gamache and Marc P. Gamache; the grandfather of Andrew Medeiros and Thomas, Robert, Daniel and Melissa Gamache and Linda Adams; the great-grandfather of Nikkolas Adams and the brother of Mariette Fournier, Aurele H. Gamache, Andre B. Gamache and the late Montfort Fathers, Rev. Flavius and Rev. Lionel Gamache and Maurice, Mercedes and Julien Gamache.
His funeral will be held Saturday at 9:00 a.m. from the AUCLAIR FUNERAL HOME, 690 So. Main St., Fall River, with a funeral mass in St. Anne Church, So. Main St., at 10:00. Interment, Notre Dame Cemetery. Visitation, Friday 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. Large parking area and barrier-free entrance to the rear of funeral home.
