1919 - 2003
AGAWAM - Normand A. Gamache, 83, died Saturday August. 16th with his loving family by his side. A Machinist for Hamilton Standard (Division of United Technologies) he retired in 1980 after thirty years of service. Born in Fall River on November 18, 1919 the son of the late Oliva A. and Georgiana (Fontaine) Gamache. Normand moved to Springfield in 1936 and then to Agawam in 1965. A WWII veteran in the U.S. Army, he received the Good Conductor Medal, European African Middle Eastern Theater Campaign Ribbon and the WWII Victory Medal. Normand is survived by his loving and devoted wife of 58 years whom he married on August 4, 1945, Genevieve A. (Tobin) Gamache of Agawam and several nieces and nephews. His brothers, Raymond S. and Roland Gamache and one sister, Anita Gamache predeceased him. He was also predeceased by his four legged friends, Peato and Spot. A funeral home service will be held on Wednesday at 12 p.m. at the Colonial - Forastiere Funeral Home, 985 Main St. with burial at 1p.m. in the Massachusetts Veterans' Memorial Cemetery, 1390 Main St., both in Agawam. Visiting hours are Tuesday afternoon from 3-6 p.m. Memorial contributions may be made in Normand's memory to the MSPCA, 171 Union St., Springfield, Ma 01108 or to the Shriner's Hospital, c/o the Donation's Department, 516 Carew St., Springfield, Ma 01104.
