Nancy K. (Gamache) Bajtka, age 78 of Manistee, Michigan died early Tuesday morning,
March 13, 2012 at Munson Medical Center in Traverse City, Michigan.
She was born on September 8, 1933 in Manistee, Michigan daughter of the late Vernon &
Corrinne (Scott) Gamache. She was a graduate of Manistee High School class of 1951.
Nancy married Theodore ?Peanuts? Kamaloski on September 29, 1951 at Guardian Angels
Catholic Church in Manistee. He preceded her in death on May 7, 1954. Nancy then
married David J. Bajtka on December 31, 1955 at St. Joseph Catholic Church also in
Manistee. After High School Nancy was employed with Consumers Power Company and
later was employed by Sears Catalog Store for thirty years. During her lifetime, Nancy also
had her own cake decorating business and offered classes in cake decorating. She
enjoyed spending time with her children and grandchildren and doing crafts of all kinds.
She especially enjoyed knitting and crocheting. Nancy?s favorite ?getaway? spot was her
cottage on Big Bass Lake in Irons.
She is survived by her husband David J. Bajtka of Manistee, MI, three daughters & two
sons-in-law: Deborah (Kamaloski) Day and Lori & Mark Sniegowski all of Manistee, MI and
Melissa & William Jewell of Ludington, MI, a daughter-in-law: Helen Kamaloski & Fiance
Randall Webb of Manistee, MI, her son-in-law: Robert W. Bernatche of Manistee, MI;
seven grandchildren: Bradley (Kaci) Kamaloski, Scott Kamaloski & his fiancé Cassandra
Kovalcik, Matthew & Christopher Day, Travis (Tarah) Bernatche, Sarah Jewell & Kevin
Jewell and three great grandchildren: Kaleigh Kamaloski, Richard T. Kamaolski and Gavin
Jewell; two sisters & brothers-in-law: Laurie & Donald Kosiboski and Mary & Stanley
Skocelas Jr., two brothers & one sister-in-law: Scott & Joan Gamache and Gregory
Gamache all of Manistee, MI; one aunt: Mary Ellen ?Dee Dee? Smogoleski of Manistee, MI.
Numerous nieces and nephews also survive her.
She was preceded in death in addition to her parents by a daughter, Susan ?Byrd?
Bernatche and her son Richard A. Kamaloski.
Mass from the Order of Christian funerals will be celebrated at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday,
March 17, 2012 at St. Mary of Mount Carmel Shrine Church in Manistee with Reverend
James Bearss celebrant. Burial will follow at Mount Carmel Cemetery also of Manistee.
Relatives and friends will pray the Evening Vigil Service at 8:00 p.m. on Friday evening at
the Herbert Funeral Home in Manistee, where friends may begin calling on Friday evening
after 6:00 p.m. The family will be at the funeral home on Friday from 6:00 to 9:00 p.m. and
on Saturday morning from 10:00 a.m. until leaving for the Church at 10:40 a.m. to receive
friends. Memorials have been established in Nancy?s name for St. Mary of Mount Carmel Shrine
Church and the American Cancer Society. Envelopes are available at the funeral home.
The Herbert Funeral Home of Manistee is in charge of funeral arrangements.
