WINOOSKI - Lula A. Gamache, 91, a longtime resident of Winooski, died peacefully, surrounded by her loving family, on Friday, Nov. 4, 2011, in Fletcher Allen Health Care of Burlington, following a brief illness.
Lula was born in Eden Mills on July 23, 1920, the daughter of Harland and Lillian (Wells) Maynard, and was a graduate of Burlington High School.
She was married at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Burlington on Feb. 14, 1942, to Romeo O. Gamache, who predeceased her on Nov. 19, 1990.
Lula was predeceased by her sister,Lois Shangraw Barrows; and a son-in-law, Donald F. Martin.
Lula is survived by four children, Judith A. Martin, Mary L. Cauchon and her husband, Richard P. Cauchon, Richard O. Gamache and H. Joseph Gamache and his wife, Petie Gamache; 11 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; two sisters, Jean Bissonette and Esther Pope; one brother, Burton H. Shangraw and his wife, Kathleen; and many nieces and nephews.
A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated on Tuesday, Nov. 8, 2011, at 10 a.m. at St. Stephen Catholic Church in Winooski.
Interment followed at St. Francis Xavier Cemetery. Arrangements were with the LaVigne Funeral Home in Winooski.
