He attended Holy Rosary Grade School in Moxee and graduated from Marquette High School in Yakima. After serving in the US Navy in World War II, he graduated from Gonzaga University in Spokane. On October 14, 1950 he married Lorraine Fortier, his beloved wife. They were married 64 years until her death, in January 2015.
Ken was a hop farmer and owned Hop Growers Supply in Toppenish until his retirement in 1986. Ken?s employment took him to many parts of the world: Mexico, Europe, Japan, India, etc. He was a member of Holy Family Catholic Church, the Knights of Columbus, and the American Legion. He served on the Catholic Credit Union Board in Yakima for 28 years. Additionally, Ken served on the Providence Hospital Foundation Board, the American Hop Museum Board in Toppenish, and served as Treasurer for the Andy Creek Cabin Owners Association for several years. Ken?s hobbies included hunting, fishing, golfing, and trips to Reno and the Nob Hill Casino. He also enjoyed attending his daughters? and grandchildren?s sporting events. Spending time at his Rimrock cabin was another favorite pastime. Ken believed you have to have a sense of humor in this life, and was always ready to brighten your day with a joke. His most endearing quality was his generosity, always giving to others of his time and resources.
