Deceased Name: Fall River JULIEN E. GAMACHE
JULIEN E. GAMACHE, of 40 Bowler St., a personnel director for Colonial Provision Co., Boston, for 25 years, and a postal clerk and letter carrier for eight years before retiring, died yesterday at Charlton Memorial Hospital. He was the husband of the late Rita M. (Robert) Gamache.
Born in Fall River, a son of the late Henri and Olivine (Levasseur) Gamache, he lived in Fall River most of his life.
He was a former Herald News carrier. He was a member of Msgr. Prevost High School's first graduation class in 1937. He attended Thibodeau Business College and Boston College.
An Army veteran of World War II, he later served several years in the Army Reserve. He was a sergeant major aboard troop ship William M. Evarts, and in 1956 was commissioned captain. He was a life member of the D.A.V., and a member of the Retired Officers Association.
More recently he was personnel coordinator at Catholic Memorial Home. He was a volunteer tutor in English at Bristol Community College to Brazilian and Russian students. He was an executive board member and publicity chairman of the Notch Babies Coalition of Massachusetts; a secretary and publicist for the Senior Senate; and a member and publicity chairman for St. Anne's Senior Citizens Club. He also served on the Fall River Personnel Grievance Board.
He leaves a daughter, Paulette Rita Taylor of Orlando, Fla.; two sons, Fall River firefighter Marc J. Gamache of Fall River, and Donald H. Gamache, staff sergeant, Air Force-Ret., of Chelmsford; three brothers, Robert E. Gamache, Aurel H. Gamache and Andre B. Gamache, all of Fall River; a sister, Mariette Fournier of Swansea; and four grandchildren. He was brother of the late Mercedes and Maurice Gamache, the Revs. Flavius Gamache and Lionel Gamache, both Montfort Fathers.
The funeral will be held Monday at 8 a.m. from Auclair Funeral Home, 69 5South Main St., with a funeral Mass at 9 at Holy Rosary Church, Beattie Street. Burial will be in the Massachusettes National Cemetery in Bourne.

FALL RIVER -- Julien E. Gamache, Captain, U.S. Army, retired, of Bowler Street, died Friday, June 13, 1997. He was the widower of Rita M. (Robert) Gamache and son of the late Henri and Olivine (Levasseur) Gamache He died at Charlton Memorial Hospital. Born in Fall River, he lived there most of his life. Mitchell. Survivors include a daughter, Paulette Rita Taylor of Orlando, Fla.; two sons, Fall River firefighter Marc J. Gamache of Fall River and Donald H. Gamache, staff sergeant, U.S. Air Force, retired, of Chelmsford; three brothers, Robert E. Gamache, Aurel H. Gamache and Andre B. Gamache, all of Fall River; a sister, Mariette Fournier of Swansea;and four grandchildren. He was the brother of the late Mercedes Gamache, Maurice Gamache and Montfort Fathers, Flavius Gamache and Lionel Gamache.
