Deceased Name: Jeannine Sylvestre
November 19, 1931 - December 18, 2012.
HANOVER - Jeannine M. (Gamache) Sylvestre, 81, of Hanover and formerly of Occum, passed away on December 18, 2012 in the comfort of her home. On September 3, 1955 at St. Mary's Church in Willimantic, she was united in marriage with her beloved Gerard (Grumps).
Sylvestre who predeceased her. They were married for 51 years. Born in Windham on November 19, 1931, she was the daughter of the late Napoleon and Yvonne Gamache.
She worked for many years at the Norwich State Hospital retiring in 1994. She was an avid reader, enjoyed playing cards with her family and faithfully attended her knitting club every Monday night. She also took great joy spending time with her best friend of over 50 years, Rose LaFemina.
Although she was a very quiet person she raised seven not so quiet children, who along with their children who very devoted to her.
She is survived by four sons, Clifford Sylvestre of Plainfield, David Sylvestre of Canterbury, Glenn Sylvestre and his wife Doreen of Lisbon, Richard Sylvestre and his wife Amy of Lisbon. Two daughters, Linda Fish of Canterbury and Donna Salvagna and her husband Dominic of Lisbon. Daughter in law Lauren Sylvestre of Lisbon. Two sisters, Rita Wunsch and Irene Molochinick both of Windham; 14 grandchildren, five great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. In addition to her husband Gerard she was predeceased by her son Thomas Sylvestre, daughter in law Joanne Sylvestre, sister Lucille Poudrier and brother Edward Gamache.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Friday at 10:00 A.M. at St. Joseph Church in Occum meeting directly at the church. Burial will follow in Sacred Heart Cemetery, Taftville. Calling hours at the Guillot Funeral Home, 75 South B. Street, Taftville, will be Thursday (TODAY) from 6:00 to 8:00 P.M.
