Jack Leroy Shadwell, who resided in Lockport, was born in Effingham, the son of John L. and Alpha (Poe) Shadwell.
He died on June 18, 1955 as the result of injuries received in an auto accident in which his father, John Shadwell Sr. was killed the day before. Jack died in a hospital in Naperville, Illinois.
He was married to the former Norma Carter, who survives.
He was a tool dresser for Artesian Wells and had lived in Lockport for four years.
Besides his wife Norma, he leaves his mother, Mrs. John (Alpha) Shadwell of Effingham; four brothers, Frank of Effingham; Robert, John W. (Jay), Howard, and a sister Barbara, all of the family home in Effingham.
Funeral services were held jointly with those of his father, John Shadwell on June 20, 1955 from the Centenary Methodist Church, Effingham. Rev. J.O. Sarver and Rev. Thomas Cook officiating at the services.
Burial was in Oakridge Cemetery, Effingham with Johnson Funeral Home in charge.
