Died:
- Doran Calvin May passed away quietly on March 21, 2013 at his home in Rancho Mirage, Calif. Doran, who would have been 93 on March 22, was born in Kendrick, Idaho before moving to Toston, Mont. He spent his school age years in Three Forks, Mont. and later relocated to Missoula, Mont. where he owned and operated the Frontier Lounge. Relocating to California in the 1950's, he owned the Palm Springs Sands, the Lake Arrowhead Lodge, the Del Mar Hotel and the Bakersfield Inn. In the early 1970's he launched a turn-key design build firm specializing in financial institutions called Bank Planning Associates which he operated for nearly 20 years in Sausalito, Calif. Doran retired to Rancho Mirage in 1990, residing in The Springs where he owned a home since the mid 1970's. Doran also frequented his home in Maui, Hawaii. Doran is preceded in death by his parents and four siblings. He leaves behind his wife, Diane; son, Mark May; and stepchildren, Bruce Hantover and Debra Grooms, as well as five children from his marriage to Alice Torgrimson including; sons, Gary, Darryl, and Terry May; and daughters, Judy May and Linda May-Poskanzer.
