Obituary for Derith E. Gamache RN
Derith E. Gamache RN, 71, of Godfrey Drive, Norton, a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and sister, passed on October 12, 2012 in the Philip Hulitar Inpatient Center, Providence after a lengthy illness. She was the beloved wife of Ronald G. Gamache, with whom she celebrated fifty years of marriage.
Born Derith E. Swenson in Attleboro on September 22, 1941, she was a daughter of the late Donald and Doris Smollins Swenson. Derith was educated at St. Mary's School in North Attleboro. She was a graduate of North Attleboro High School and the Sturdy Memorial Hospital School of Nursing. She worked as a nurse at Sturdy Memorial Hospital, King Philip High School, and at the Madonna Manor nursing Home prior to retirement. Ronald and Derith summered in Dennis for over thirty years and wintered in Lighthouse Point, Florida for fifteen years. She enjoyed the beach and the ocean and spending time with her beloved grandchildren.
In addition to her husband Ronald, Derith is survived by a daughter; Debra Fyfe and her husband Paul of Attleboro, a son; Michael Gamache and his wife Wendy of Swampscott, a brother; David Swenson and his wife Connnie of Kalamazoo, Michigan, a sister; Cheryl Achison and her husband Ed of Smithfield, Rhode Island, two grandchildren; Megan and Matthew Fyfe of Attleboro, and many nieces and nephews.
She was the sister of the late Ronald Swenson and the late Gary Swenson.
â?¨Funeral arrangements are entrusted to the Duffy-Poule Funeral Home, 20 Peck Street, Attleboro where the Gamache family will receive friends on Tuesday, October 16th from 4-8 PM. A funeral will be conducted on Wednesday, October 17th at 9 AM from the Duffy-Poule Funeral Home followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 AM in St. John the Evangelist Church, 133 North Main Street, Attleboro, celebrated by Rev. Richard Wilson, Pastor. Derith will be laid to rest in St. Mary's Cemetery, Towne Street, North Attleboro.
