David E. Bedard
Ludlow-David Emile Bedard, 89, of 30 Grimard St., a retired 20-year mechanic for Monsanto Chemical Co. in Indian Orchard, Springfield, died on Wednesday in a West Brookfield nursing home. He was a volunteer at the Quaboag Nursing Home in West Brookfield for 20 years, and received its Russell Fenner Volunteer Award in 1981 for outstanding service. Born in Springfield, he lived in the city for 68 years, and in West Brookfield for 20 years.He was a communicant of Sacred Heart Church there and moved here last year. His wife, the former Rose A. Gamache, died in 1956. Bedard leaves a son, Charles J. of Wilbraham, a daughter Dorothy Beaulieu of Ludlow; a brother, J.Emery LaPierre of Springfield's Indian Orchard section; three sisters, Doris LaPierre and Orella Ricardi of Ludlow, and Anna Beaulieu of Indian Orchard; four grandchildren, and two great-grandchildren. The funeral will be on Saturday morning at Ratell Funeral Home and St. Aloysius Church, both in Indian Orchard, with burial at St. Michael's Cemetery in Springfield. Calling hours are before the funeral, and memorial contributions may be made to the American Heart Association, 20 Speen St., Framingham, 01701-4688.
