Tuesday, October 12, 2010 LEWISTON ? Cecile Y. Gamache, 80, of Lewiston, died peacefully at her residence on Sunday, Oct. 10, with her children and grandchildren by her side, following a short illness. She was born in Caribou on July 23, 1930, the daughter of William and Maggie (Michaud) Michaud and had been a resident of the Lisbon and Lewiston area for most of her life. She was educated in Caribou schools and completed her education in Lewiston. Later in her life she went on to nursing school and became a CNA. She had married Romeo B. Gamache on Sept. 11, 1948, and he died on March 6, 2009. She was employed in the local textile industry for many years and retired as a private care nurse in 2007. She conducted a prayer group in her home for a while. Cecile enjoyed gardening, crocheting, knitting, camping, NASCAR and entertaining her family during the holidays. She is survived by one son, Leland Gamache and his wife, Linda, of Lisbon; three daughters, Sandra Albert and her husband, Rudolph, of Lewiston, Deborah Gamache-Merrill and her husband, Thomas R., of Lewiston and Katherine Starbird and her husband, Ronald, of Lisbon; nine grandchildren; two step-grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; four step-great-grandchildren; one brother, Lawrence Michaud of Caribou; two sisters, Irene Caron of Caribou and Jeanette Christianson of Terryville, Conn.; and many nieces and nephews. Besides her husband, she was predeceased by four brothers, Gilbert, Abel, Edward and Benjamin Michaud; and by one sister, Matilda Michaud.
