Mildred Gamache, 91, of Yakima died at Landmark Care the morning of April 9.
Mildred Mary Gamache was born in Moxee on January 4,1921 to Edmond and Mary (Sauve) Regimbal. Millie attended Holy Rosary School in Moxee, except for the short time she boarded with her sister Martha in Vancouver, Washington, and graduated from Holy Rosary in 1939. Millie met Francis Gamache at a dance and they were later married in Moxee on January 21,1942.
They moved to Toppenish across the road from Francis's parents to farm. Millie kept an immaculate house, always ready for the unexpected guest that Francis might bring home. She could put together a meal for them on a moments notice. For over twenty years, Millie hosted a New Year's Day gathering of their friends and family at their Toppenish home. In 1981, Millie and Francis moved to Yakima. They spent a lot of their time at their Twin Lakes home near Inchelium, Washington. One of Millie's pleasures in life was to go shopping and return most everything on the next trip. After the1996 death of Francis, Millie enjoyed calling her best childhood friend Jane LeCoursier Perrault, who lived across the alley from Millie when they were growing up. They remained friends throughout their lives, even living in Englewood Heights at the same time.
Millie was the last remaining survivor of her siblings, Theodore Regimbal, Adolph Regimbal, Dorothy Regimbal (Sr. Virginia Marie), Armand Regimbal (Fr. Daniel OSB), William Regimbal, Raymond Regimbal, Martha Carlton, Gerald Regimbal, and Donald Regimbal.
Millie is survived by six children: Ronald (Kay), Judy Orsetti (Steve), Susan (Greg Martin), Lynne Hazel (Dave), Mark (Janet), Gayle McLernon (Brian), twelve grandchildren and ten great grandchildren.
Millie greatly appreciated the loving care of Landmark Care Center in her later years. In lieu of flowers, a donation in her name may be made to your favorite charity.
A vigil service of the rosary will be held Sunday April 15th, 6 pm at the Keith & Keith Funeral Home. A mass of celebration of her life will be Monday April 16th, 1 pm followed by a reception. A private interment at Holy Rosary Cemetery will be held earlier. To share a memory of Millie visit www.keithandkeith.com.
