- [S5] Obituary.
Brookside Funeral Home & Crematory
Stan (Pops) Gamache, 66, entered his rock and roll journey into Heaven on August 20th, 2018 at Virginia Mason Memorial Hospital due to complications from pneumonia.
Pops was born on February 6th, 1952 to Donald and Trudy (Schmidt) Gamache. He was raised in Moxee, WA, attended St. Peter Apostle Seminary, and graduated from Carrol H.S. in 1971. He furthered his education and found his passion for hair at Moler Barber School. He married the love of his life, Jackie Bledsoe, on January 4th, 1977 in Everett, WA.
Pops cut hair in various shops in the valley, including Grandview. He made a life changing decision and entered rehab at Sundown M Ranch. After treatment, he was offered a job there and worked various positions while maintaining his sobriety for 20 years. He became his own boss and started his own business, Have Shears Will Travel. Pops traveled to many people?s homes and nursing homes, like Parkside, to cut hair for folks who could not make it to a hairdresser on their own. He ran his own business for many years until fibromyalgia made it impossible for him to work.
Pops loved spending time with family, especially his grandboys. He loved to swim and snow ski with his buddies. Pops was a music enthusiast; everyone could hear him coming from miles away. In using one of his favorite sayings, he waved his freak flag high. If we didn?t find him in the front lawn mowing in his speedo, he would be found at his favorite tattoo shop talking about new ink or getting a new piercing, or at his favorite record shop looking for new music to dance and sing to in the living room. He was unapologetically true to himself. He was a proud squiggle.
Pops is survived by his wife of 41 years, Jackie; daughters, Jocelyn (Pablo Hernandez), Julia Lafortune, and Becca Gamache of Yakima; three grandkids, Jonathan Resendez and Xander and Brendan Hernandez; one great grandson, Isaac Jules Resendez; his mother, Trudy Gamache; five siblings, Danette (Doug) Hester, Bruce (Christine) Gamache, Dave (Angie) Gamache, Kathy (Brian) Hopkins, and Tim (Cec) Gamache; sisters in law, Kathy Venables and Pam (Donald) Laurvick; along with numerous nieces and nephews.
Pops is preceded in death by his father, Donald Gamache; Jackie?s parents, Jack and Dixie Bledsoe; brother in law, Dan Venables; and also, his faithful and loyal companion, his dog, Buddy.
Save us a ticket to the show, Pops.
