Evalyn Gamache, 92
NEW BERN, N.C. - Evalyn S. Gamache, 92, died Tuesday evening, May 22, 2007, at Two Rivers Healthcare Nursing Home in New Bern, N.C.
Evalyn was born on July 25, 1915 in Rehoboth, the daughter of John and Ada Johnson.
After graduating from the Bryant College of Business in Providence, she worked as an office administrator at Attleboro Steam and Electric, the U.S. Army during World War II, and afterwards in the auditor's office and the Welfare Department for the City of Attleboro. Prior to her retirement, she worked for the Flagstaff food service distribution company.
Evalyn was married to Edgar D. Gamache in 1939. He was a 34-year veteran of the Attleboro Police Department.
She was a longtime member of the Tremont Street Methodist Church, and a resident of Attleboro until she moved to Wisconsin in 1990 to be closer to her son, Alan.
She was preceded in death by her younger son, Donald Gamache and husband Edgar.
She is survived by her son, Alan Gamache, a retired professor from the University of Wisconsin at Stout, and his wife Rebecca Shelby, and two granddaughters, Nicolette Gamache of San Francisco, Calif., and Ursula Gamache of New Bern, N.C.
A memorial service was held at the Garber United Methodist Church in New Bern on May 29, 2007.
Her remains will be interred at the Oak Knoll Cemetery in Rehoboth in July.
