- [S5] Obituary.
Christopher Orville Gamache Passed away on February 28, 2016 following 2 severe strokes last May. Chris was born April 21, 1955 to Dolores and Bernie Gamache in Oceanside, California. After moving to Tacoma, where he spent the rest of his life, Chris attended school at Holy Cross, Truman, and then graduated from Stadium High School, class of 74. Chris was an amazing artist, who overflowed with creativity and was filled with joy and excitement when working on a new project. When he finished a painting it looked like a photograph. He was also a custom model builder, who built the first Karmann Ghia production model kit. Chris loved restoring cars, and built his own 29 roadster hot rod from scratch, along with many other cars throughout his life time. Most will remember the Woody Wagon (Boxmobile) which he and his father built, and of course the little red Ghia and his Isetta. Chris loved all animals, especially his dogs Ricky and Brodie, and his parrot Percy. Chris made new friends throughout his travels, be it at the local barista or trips to Bakersfield for the Hot Rod Reunion. Preceded in death by his beloved mother, father and grandma, Chris is survived by his sister Kim Baldasare, a family of cousins, and a host of friends young and old. All are invited to his graveside service Saturday, March 12th, 11:00am, at Calvary Cemetery, 5212 70th St. W Tacoma, where you will be able to write a special note or prayer on his casket. Following the service there will be a celebration of life at the Swiss Tavern, 1904 Jefferson Ave., Tacoma, at 1:00. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Tacoma Humane Society.
