It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Deputy Chief of Police
Theodore J. Kaegael, Ret. He passed away peacefully at the age of 96 in the evening of Thursday, March 30, 2023 at Clifton Nursing Home in Somerset MA, where he has been a resident for the last three years. He was born on July 21, 1926 to the late Theodore and Pauline (Driscoll) Kaegael. He was the husband of the late Lucy (Sabik) Kaegael and the late Doris (Canuel) Gamache Kaegael. He is also predeceased by his daughters, Kathleen Quirk and Michelle Silvia, his son Lionel Gamache. He is also predeceased by his brother Paul Kaegael.
He is survived by his sons Ted Kaegael Jr.,
Joseph Kaegael and Dr. Robert Gamache. He is the father-in-law of Michel Quirk. He is also survived by his two brothers, Richard Kaegael and Michael Kaegael, both of Sarasota Florida. He is further survived by six grandchildren, two great grandchildren and several nieces.
He was an Army Air Corps veteran of World War II and was Honorably Discharged on November 11, 1946. Deputy Chief Kaegael served as a member of the Fall River Police Department for over three decades. He also worked as the Head of Security for the Taunton, Lincoln and Raynham Dog Track for 20 plus years. During this time, he earned a college degree and taught criminal justice courses at BCC. He was also a Member of the Board of Director at the Fall River Municipal Credit Union for many years. He was member of Fall River Elks, the Liberal Club, the VFW ? Tiverton and a member of the Massachusetts Retired State, Local and Municipal Employees Association.
Relatives and friends are invited to a visitation to be held on Tuesday, April 4 , 2023 from 4:00PM to 7:00PM at Auclair Funeral Home, 690 South Main Street, Fall River, MA. A small funeral prayer service will be held in the funeral home on Wednesday, April 5, 2023 at 10:00AM. Subsequently, burial will be at Beech Grove cemetery in Westport, MA.
