TAUNTON -- Jules R. Gamache, 85, of Lakeville died Thursday, Oct. 13, 2005, at Morton Hospital after a brief illness. He was the widower of Lucienne (Barthelemy) Gamache. Born in Middleboro, he was the son of the late Joseph B. and Anna (Dufour) Gamache. He attended Middleboro schools and played softball with the Leighton Team in the Middleboro Recreation League. He served in the Army in Europe during World War II as a member of the 360th Engineer General Service Regiment. He married in January 1946 and moved to Lakeville in 1955. He was a stitcher in shoe manufacturing until he retired from John E. Lucey Co. in Bridgewater. With his brothers Pete, Art and Paul, he built, owned and operated the Lakeville Recreation Bowling Alley and the former Four Quarters restaurant on Route 105 in Lakeville. He also ran the Monday night ladies' league and the Saturday children's league at the alleys. His favorite pastime was playing cribbage with family and friends. Mr. Gamache was a communicant of Sts. Martha and Mary Church in Lakeville. He was a member of the Holy Name Society and was head usher at the 7:30 a.m. Mass for many years. Survivors include a son, Donald Gamache, and his wife, Linda (Hebert), of Taunton; a daughter, Claire Fowler, and her husband, Edward Jr., of East Taunton; a former daughter-in-law, Pauline (Consalvi) Gamache; a sister, Josephine Forcier of Middleboro; three brothers, Leo Gamache and Arthur Gamache, both of Middleboro, and Joseph "Pete" Gamache of Lakeville; six grandchildren; and two great-grandsons; and several nieces and nephews. He was the brother of the late Anna Cote, Ernestine Stuart, and Paul and George Gamache. His funeral Mass will be at 10 a.m. Monday at Sts. Martha and Mary Church, Bedford Street, Lakeville. Burial will follow in St. Mary's Cemetery, Middleboro. Arrangements are by Dahlborg-MacNevin Funeral Home, 280 Bedford St. Lakeville.
