Daniel Oliver Gamache, 73, a resident of Federal Street in St. Albans City for nearly thirty-five years died suddenly Tuesday afternoon, Feb. 12, 2002, in the Northwestern Medical Center.
He was born in St. Albans Bay, April 27, 1928, the son of the late Elphege and Yvonne (Chevalier) Gamache. Raised in Swanton he attended Sainte Anne's Academy and was a parishioner of The Church of the Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary. On May 14, 1955, he married the former Rita Bergeron who survives him.
Daniel was involved in farming for most of his working life, owning and operating farms on the County and Middle Roads in Swanton. He was a member of the Loyal Order of Moose, Lodge #1090 and the Franklin County Senior Citizens both in St. Albans.
In addition to his wife Rita Gamache of St. Albans Daniel leaves two daughters, Louise Brosseau and her husband Claude and Denise Bruley and her husband Michael all of Swanton; four sons, Marcel Gamache of Westford, Bernard Gamache of Seattle, Wash., Frank Gamache and his wife Janet of Pompano Beach, Fla. and Raymond Gamache of Westford. Also surviving are four sisters, Gabriel Hennigan of Virginia Beach, Va., Diane Bissonnette of Essex Junction, Rachel Morneau and her husband Charles of Coventry, Conn. and Marie Gamache of Hartford, Conn.; two brothers, Joseph Gamache and his wife Anna of Swanton and Robert Gamache and his wife Patty of Bedford, Va. He also leaves seven grandchildren, Elizabeth Brosseau, Jennifer Gamache, Nicholas Brosseau, Allison Bruley, Charles Gamache, Alex Brosseau and Steven Bruley.
He was predeceased by an infant son, Victor in 1958 and by three brothers, Gaston, Philip and Gilbert Gamache.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Monday, Feb. 18, 2002, at 11 a.m. from The Church of the Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary, 65 Canada Street, Swanton. Father Leonidas Laroche, pastor of St. Mary's Parish in St. Albans, will be the celebrant and homilist. Interment will follow in St. Mary's Cemetery. Friends may call at the Kidder Memorial Home, 89 Grand Avenue, Swanton on Sunday, Feb. 17, 2002, from 2 to 4 p.m
