Deceased Name: Edith M. Gamache, 78
WORCESTER -- Edith M. (O'Brien) Gamache, 78, of 15 Dryden St., a former housekeeper and a retired dining room supervisor, died Tuesday, March 5, in St. Vincent Hospital at Worcester Medical Center after an illness.
Her husband of 36 years, Ernest F. Gamache, died in 1982. She leaves a son, Richard L. Gamache of Worcester; four daughters, Patricia A. Stoll and Barbara M. and Karen A. Gamache, all of Worcester, and Lynne T. Gamache of Everett, Wash.; a sister, Alice L. Westlund of Big River, Calif.; three grandsons; two great-granddaughters; nephews and nieces. A daughter, Arline L. Gamache of Worcester, died in 1970. A brother, Arthur W. O'Brien of Worcester, died in 2000. She was born in Worcester, daughter of Richard J. and Alice M. (Love) O'Brien, and graduated from Commerce High School.
Mrs. Gamache was a dining room supervisor for 14 years at St. Agnes Guild, retiring in 1985. Later, she was a housekeeper at Immaculate Conception rectory. She was a member of Immaculate Conception Parish, St. Peter's Tuesday Afternoon Social Club, Auburn Senior Steppers and Alley Cats Bowlers. She was an auxiliary member of American Legion Grafton Hill Post 323. She was also a bingo worker at Immaculate Conception Church.
The funeral will be held Friday, March 8, from Morin Funeral Home, 298 Grafton St. (worcesterfuneral.com), with a Mass at 10 a.m. in Immaculate Conception Church, 353 Grove St. Burial will be in Worcester County Memorial Park, Paxton. Calling hours are 5 to 8 p.m. Thursday, March 7, in the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to American Heart Association, 20 Speen St.; or to American Cancer Society, 30 Speen St., both Framingham, MA 01701.
