- Mary E. (Fitzgerald) Gamache, 81, of Fall River, died Saturday, November 4, 2006 at Charlton Memorial Hospital.
She was the wife of Aurele H. ?Shorty? Gamache.
A lifelong resident of Fall River, she was the daughter of the late J. Edward and Mary (Ault) Fitzgerald.
A 1941 graduate of the former Dominican Academy and a 1942 graduate of the former Thibodeau Business College, she was a member of the Little Theater of Fall River.
She wrote and directed plays at Dominican Academy and the former Saint Anne?s Hospital School of Nursing where she served as secretary to the Director of Nurses, Sister Madeleine Clemence, O.P. Mrs. Gamache later was published in Parent?s and Catholic Miss magazines.
She was a communicant of St. Anne Church where she was a member of the Pro-Life Group, a former den mother and committee secretary of St. Anne?s Cub Scouts and a member of the Dominican Academy Alumnae Association.
Besides her husband of 57 years, she is survived by 3 sons, Ronald Gamache and his wife Cynthia of Somerset, Richard Gamache and his wife Kirsten of Barrington, RI and John Gamache of Bristol, RI;
a daughter, Marian Desrochers;
a son-in-law, Scott Barrow of So. Dartmouth;
8 grandchildren, Gwenyth and Patrick Barrow and Sally, Emily, Daniel, Matthew, Benjamin and Timothy Gamache
and nieces and nephews.
She was the mother of the late Ann Barrow.
Her funeral will be held Wednesday at 9:00 AM from the AUCLAIR FUNERAL HOME, 690 So. Main St., Fall River, with a funeral mass in St. Anne Church at 10:00 AM.
