Michael E. Gamache
Family man, CPA, active in Montgomery Township community
Michael E. Gamache of Belle Mead, N.J., passed away peacefully on Monday, June 24, 2019, at 63 years of age. He was surrounded by his loving family.
Born in Springfield, Mass., on July 5, 1955, Michael was a graduate of James Caldwell High School (NJ) and the University of Pennsylvania's Wharton School of Business. A certified public accountant, Michael worked as an auditor and became a partner at Arthur Andersen, and then Deloitte, until his retirement in 2018.
Michael was an active citizen in Montgomery Township, N.J. He was a coach for his sons' soccer and basketball teams, including a term as president of the town's travel soccer club, and an avid supporter of Special Olympics of New Jersey. Michael served on St. Charles Borromeo's finance committee in addition to the town's zoning board. He was also a member of Cherry Valley Country Club since its founding in 1991.
Michael was the beloved husband of Beth. The two enjoyed 40 beautiful years together, recently including strolls along the boardwalk in Spring Lake, N.J. He was father to Tim (Cindy), Scott (Milena), Andrew, and Chris (Kathleen). He was the proud Pépère to Christian, Sofia, and Bradley. Michael was also the caring brother of Midge (Joe), Anne (Denny), Ellen (Don), Kathy (Steve), Michele (Tom), and Lisa (Don), as well as brother-in-law to Sandy (John) and John (Carol). He was an endearing uncle to 26 nieces and nephews in addition to their spouses and children.
Michael was predeceased by his parents, Ernest and Margaret, as well as mother- and father-in-law, Ruth and John, and sister, Mary (survived by El).
Michael will lay in repose at Hillsborough Funeral Home from 4 to 8 p.m. on Friday, June 28. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. Charles Borromeo on Saturday, June 29, at 10 a.m.
