GAMACHE, Pauline ''Polly''
Pauline A. Gamache, of South Windsor, died Wednesday (January 14, 2009) at home with her family by her side. Born in Fall River, MA September 11, 1931, daughter of the late Wilfred and Elda (Letendre) Gendron, she had lived in West Roxbury, MA for 39 years before moving to South Windsor, in 1991. Pauline graduated in 1952 from Regis College with a Bachelors Degree in social work. She was employed as a Child Welfare Social Worker at the Italian Home for Children in Boston from 1964 thru 1980. Pauline then became an adoption supervisor at Boston Children's Services where she spearheaded the legal risk adoption program. She had a passion for helping children and families in need. Pauline was a parishioner of the St. Margaret Mary Church in South Windsor. She was an avid fan of the University of Connecticut girls' basketball team. Pauline was a devoted wife and mother and she thoroughly enjoyed spending time with her family and friends. Pauline is predeceased by her husband of 54 years, Normand R. Gamache. She leaves three children, Robert Gamache and his wife, Amy of Centreville, VA, David Gamache and his wife, Kathleen, of Hopkinton, MA and Susan (Gamache) Cook and her husband, John of South Windsor; a sister, Lucille Witkowski of Barrington, RI; 10 grandchildren, Joyce Bulson, Kathleen Kennedy, Maureen, Diana, Stephen, Joseph and Elizabeth Gamache, and Lisa, Julie and Stacy Cook, and also one great grandson, Connor Gamache.
Family and friends may gather, Saturday, January 17 at 9:15 a.m., at the Samsel & Carmon Funeral Home, 419 Buckland Road, South Windsor. Burial will follow in Wapping Cemetery, South Windsor. Her family will receive friends Friday, January 16 from 4-7 p.m., at the funeral home. Memorial donations may be made to St. Francis-Mt.
