- [S5] Obituary.
Emmanuel Joseph Gamache, of Bow, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, Feb. 7, 2018 at the age of 94 in the loving care of his only daughter, Michelle Campbell, by whom he is survived. He died in the comfort of his home of 41 years, which he had custom built for him and his late wife, Naomi, who preceded him in death by six years.
Emmanuel worked most of his career as a machinist at Granite State Machinery and was loved by all who had the privilege of knowing him. He was a hard worker, a man of integrity, and one who kept both his home and his life clean and organized. He was also a man of habits. For example, for several years, he enjoyed using the same fork each and every time he ate. He also had a great love for country. As a result, he found great joy in caring for the American flag, whether as a child, or as an adult tending to the well-lit flag pole he installed in his front yard. Raising it in the morning, or taking it down when it rained. Most of all, he was known and revered as a unique and gentle man who had the best laugh and the nicest personality.
He is survived by two grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. He lived a very full life for the better of 93 years. His health only began failing shortly after breaking his hip in late 2017. A few days before he died, he acknowledged his situation by stating to those tending to his care, "I know where this is going." He was strong until the very end. His memory will live on as an inspiration to those who were privileged to be a part of his life.
Funeral services will be arranged in the Spring of 2018. For arrangements, call Michelle at 603-736-4600. Published in The Concord Monitor on Feb. 16, 2018
