Marjorie R. (Gamache) Smith, 84, of 114 Clark Road, Rye, and formerly of Nashua, died Friday morning, Nov. 6, 1998, at Portsmouth Regional Hospital after an illness. She was a homemaker for most of her life and enjoyed baking, gardening and knitting. She liked being with children and loved to do for other people, especially the cooking, knitting and other homemaker jobs. Mrs. Smith was an active member of the Seniors Center in Rye. She was educated in the Nashua school system. Mrs. Smith was born in Nashua on Jan. 20, 1914, daughter of the late Clovis and Roberta (Jodoin) Gamache. She had been a resident of Rye since 1938. She was predeceased by her husband, Herbert W. Smith, who died in January 1988, and also by six brothers and sisters. Survivors include a sister and brother-in-law, Bob and Daphne Lambert of Merrimack; numerous nieces, nephews, grandnieces, grandnephews, great-grandnieces and great-grandnephews; and many close friends in Rye. The Davis Funeral Home in Nashua is in charge of arrangements.
