Charles Joseph Bedard, 83, of Springfield passed away on Wednesday, January 6, 2016. Charles, son of the late David and Rose (Gamache) Bedard, was born March 17, 1932 in Springfield. After graduating from Springfield Trade High School in 1950, he proudly served his country in the Korean War in the United States Army. Charles then went on to work as an electrician for Monsanto where he retired after 37 years of service. He loved to watch football and was a lifelong New York Giants fan. He will be missed by all who knew him, including his wife of 63 years, Dolores (Burgess) Bedard; his son John J Bedard and his wife Donna of Lenox; his daughter, Lucy R Donnelly of Springfield; his brother, John Stone of Springfield; his sister, Diane Lowe of Springfield; his grandchildren, Tyler Donnelly and his wife Erica, and Heather Donnelly; his great grandson, Logan; and his son in law, Patrick. He was also predeceased by his sisters, Shirley Lavalley, Elaine Sazbo, and Beverly Glennie, as well as many extended family members and friends. Visiting Hours will be held Tuesday, January 12, 2015 from 10 am to 12 noon at Sampson?s Chapel of the Acres Funeral Home, 21 Tinkham Road, Springfield. A Funeral Home Service will follow beginning at 12 noon. Rites of Committal and Interment will follow at Gate of Heaven Cemetery, 421 Tinkham Road, Springfield.
