BLUE HILL, Maine ? James G. Gamache, 53, formerly of Fairhaven passed away unexpectedly Saturday, February 18, 2017 at home.
Born in New Bedford, son of Florence C. (Duchesneau) Gamache of Fairhaven and the late Raymond L. Gamache, Sr., he lived most of his life in Fairhaven prior to moving to Maine five years ago.
Jim was a graduate of New Bedford Vocational High School and later worked as a commercial fisherman on various area vessels. He loved gardening and enjoyed sport fishing and animals.
He is survived by his mother; two brothers, Raymond L. Gamache, Jr. and Matthew A. Gamache both of Fairhaven; three sisters, Miriam E. Manley and her husband Ted of Dartmouth, Martha A. Guillotte and her husband Raymond of New Bedford and Kristin F. Robidoux and her husband Carl of Fairhaven; sisters-in-law, Michelle Borges, Ann Marie Gamache and Judith Lister; Godparents, Kathy and Gerry Deneault; Godchildren, Jenna and Courtlyn Gamache; aunt and uncle, Leona and Roland Blouin and 32 nieces and nephews. Jim was the twin brother of the late John R. Gamache.
Jim will be cremated and a Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 1:00pm Saturday, February 25, 2017 in St. Joseph's Church, Fairhaven. The family will be receiving visitors in church from 12:30-1pm prior to Mass. Interment will be private.
