1952 Roland Gamache was one of the pioneers of Val d'Or when he arrived in 1936. Roland Gamache, grocer, butcher, was born in Stoke Center, Richmond County, on 4 Decembre 1909, son of Jacques Gamache and Anna Pinard. He attended school in Stoke until the age of 18 where he worked with his father on the old family property. In 1932 he established himself at Ville Marie, Témiscamingue, on his own account, he devoted himself to growing strawberries and raspberries. After four years, he went to Val d'Or to work for Mr. Jules Dubreuil, grocer, butcher, later becoming his partner until M.Dubreuil's death in March 1942. He became the sole owner of the current store that provides its clientele an assortment that is second to none to stores of this kind, even in our major cities. Amember of the Knights of Columbus and a member of two Chambers of Commerce, he enjoys hunting and fishing in his spare time. 1960 Rosa (Laplante) and Philippe Gamache
Rosa - daughter of Paul Laplante and Normandine Poirier - was born July 31, 1924 in Cold Lake. Her godfather and godmother were Olias Poirier and Bernadette Poirier (Rosa's uncle and aunt).
Rosa married Philippe Gamache on July 4, 1944. Philippe is the son of Alfred Gamache and Eglantine Fex. He was born on February 9, 1923 in Durlingville, Alberta. His godfather is Ovila Binette - his uncle - and his godmother is Lucia Fex - his aunt.

Laurent: Born December 14, 1945 in Bonnyville. Godparents are: Paul Laplante and Normandine Poirier, maternal grandparents. Laurent married Terry Smith on December 21, 1974. She was born on October 25, 1949. Their child is: Laurene Nicole, born May 13, 1978.

1978 Saul Ziff Marries Pittsburgh Girl Sunday Afternoon

PHILIPSBURG - A reception for a large number of relatives and friends was held at the William Penn Hotel in Pittsburgh Sunday afternoon following the marriage of Saul Ziff and Ruth Harris of Pittsburgh in the Cardinal Room of the hotel. Rabbi Lichtner of Pittsburgh performed the ceremony at 4:30 Sunday. The bride wore a white satin, floor-length gown and her attendant, Miss Marilyn Frank, work old rose. Morton Stevel of Tyrone was best man. Ushers were Herman and Al Ziff, Philipsburg, brothers of the bridegroom. Following a honeymoon in Florida, the couple will reside in Philipsburg where Mr. Ziff is manager of the Ziff Clothing of the Ziff Store, Front Street. The bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Phil Harris of Pittsburgh and the bridegrooms parents are Mr. and Mrs. Simon Ziff of 524 Spruce Street,Philipsburg.

Brother Armand L. Gamache, S.C.

BURRILLVILLE- Brother Armand L. Gamache, S.C., (Brother John Damian), 86, of the Brothers of the Sacred Heart Provincial House, Pascoag, RI, died September 20, 2011 at Mt. St. Rita Health Centre, Cumberland, RI.
Born in Nashua, NH, he was the son of the late Lionel Gamache and Marie (Gingras) Gamache.
Brother Armand entered the Brothers of the Sacred Heart in 1939 at Granby, Qubec, Canada. He pronounced his first vows in 1942 in Granby, Qubec, and his perpetual vows in 1948 at Mt. St. Charles Academy, Woonsocket, RI. Brother Armand was a professed religious for 69 years, serving in a variety of locations including Andover and Sharon, Massachusetts, Woonsocket, RI, Lewiston, Maine, and Nashua, NH, as a missionary in Lesotho and Zimbabwe, Africa, for 17 years, and in St. Albans, England for 19 years. Brother Armand served as a teacher for 50 years. He also provided auxiliary assistance in schools in data processing and printing. He had been a volunteer at the Steere Farm Elementary School in Burrillville, RI, for the past few years. Brother Armand was also an athlete, playing tennis and golf throughout his life.
Brother Armand was recognized with a Normal School Diploma by the Quebec Education Department, with a Bachelor of Arts degree from St. Michaels College, Colchester, Vermont, and with a Master of Education degree from Rivier College in Nashua, NH, as well as qualifications from the University of South Africa.
Brother Armand is survived by his sisters, Pearl Sciuto of Derry, NH, Irene Boucher of Nashua, NH, Pauline Lamb of Hudson, NH, and his brother, Robert, also of Nashua, NH. His brother, Fernand (Fudgy), and sister, Madeleine Gamache, preceded him in death.
The wake will be held at the Provincial House, 685 Steere Farm Road, Pascoag, RI, Saturday, September 24, 2011 at 9:30 a.m., followed by the Mass of Christian Burial in the Chapel of the Provincial House at 11 a.m. Burial will be in the Brothers' Cemetery in Pascoag. In lieu of flowers, donations in Brother Armands memory can be made to the African Mission Fund, Business Office, Brothers of the Sacred Heart, 685 Steere Farm Road, Pascoag, RI 02859. Arrangements are entrusted to the Brown Funeral Home 1496 Victory Hwy. Oakland RI.
